Staff Senators

The University Senate is the shared governance body that helps the university function as a unified institution. Faculty, students and staff come together with university administrators to develop and advise on policies, processes, programs and solutions for issues facing the university. Staff Senators work closely with USAC to align priorities, share information and collaborate on best strategies to advocate for staff.

Become a Staff Senator Alternate
Looking to make a meaningful impact at Ohio State? This spring, USAC will elect five Staff Senator Alternates for one‑year terms during the 2026–2027 academic year. This role offers staff an accessible way to engage in shared governance, build leadership skills, and expand professional networks.

Staff Senator Alternates fully participate in the Senate experience, serving on subcommittees and voting when a Senator is unable to attend. It’s an excellent pathway to learn how University Senate operates while representing staff voices and contributing to decisions that shape the university.

Applications are open February 9 at 12:00 a.m. through March 6 at 5:00 p.m. Selected applicants will be invited to a brief interview, and all candidates will be notified of outcomes by May 15.

USAC has the privilege to elect 5 staff senators, who serve a 2 year rotating term with a recruitment window starting in early spring.
